I can appreciate having friends to stay fit with and having facilitates, such as all the amenities provided by the City of Vernon, and sponsors, at Marshall Field. I visited Marshall Field when it was -5 C outdoors and, unsurprisingly, the only people around were walking their dogs. So let me start off by saying, the path along Vernon Creek is a great and popular place for walking your dog and meeting others doing the same. The newest addition to the area is the 12 Pickle Ball courts which opened August 2018. There are four tennis courts and very impressive baseball diamond with facilities for players and fans alike. The Vernon Toyota Indoor Sports Centre is the largest structure in the Field but the largest area is dedicated to multiple soccer fields. The west end of Marshall Fields is a block from Okanagan Lake, Lakeshore Drive, where the City of Vernon is undertaking to greatly improve the waterside facilities. I'll do another video about that once the new parks are ready for the public. In this video I was testing having an external mic and carrying an external audio recorder because, in my first video, the wind noise made my voice almost inaudible at times.

Welcome to the Activernon blog and vlog! I'm excited about all the ways adults can keep active in Vernon BC. I'm an outdoor guy who wants to share and encourage others to keep active, fit and healthy. I decided to capture some of the things I do on video and also wanted to brag a little about how exercise friendly the Greater Vernon area is. First though, I'm going to produce a few videos to learn how to use my camera while I'm on bicycle to see if I can keep a steady shot and record my voice without the noise of the wind. Here's my first try! |
